The2.0-liter common rail turbocharged oil burner makes 140 horsepower and a “suck my particulates, Civic” 236 lb·ft of torque. For reference, the 2.0-liter turbo gas engine in this writer’s GTI only stumps-up 207 lb·ft of twist. Better yet, the Jetta TDI is nearly as much fun to drive as the GTI. Dieselfuel injectors are very often the main problem of diesel cars. In a Volkswagen or Audi vehicle with the 2.0 TDI under the hood, you will likely have issues with fuel injectors at about 150,000 miles. Peoplelove the 1.9 TDI. It's a great engine so long as the owner doesn't forget to change the timing belt. It's a very desirable engine though, so be prepared to spend about $4,000 for a complete engine. I had a 2000 Golf with 1.9 TDI engine. I sold it when it hit 400 000 km. (abour 250 000 miles).

Then there is the V6, but oh so thirsty. So really it would only be a choice between the 2.0 tdi and the 1.8 tsi.
19 TDI (Volkswagen, Audi, Skoda, Seat) Probably the biggest classic when it comes to diesel engines – Volkswagen’s 1.9 TDI. There is no doubt that throughout Europe, the 1.9 TDI diesel is synonymous with durability, doing a mileage of km without any problems. In addition, in stronger varieties, it provided at least good
